What we do

Our mission at Food for the Hungry UK is to facilitate the flow of resources and people from the UK to meet the needs of the poorest communities in the world.

Development

Our primary emphasis is on the long term development of the extremely poor, recognizing their creativity and ability to resolve their own problems- which is why over 90% of staff in the field are recruited locally. Through them we work for any combination of the following:

Food provision
Water provision for drinking, sanitation and irrigation
Primary health care including HIV/AIDS
Income enhancement/ micro enterprise development
Education
Empowering indigenous peoples

Relief

In the event of man made or natural disasters we implement relief and rehabilitation programmes with a focus on: the provision of food and shelter, an emergency health response, care for separated or unaccompanied children. Read our latest relief report for 2008 for the work accomplished.

We have a variety of development projects running today.
