Community development programmes
Community development programmes focus initially on children and are long term initiatives run by local staff in partnership with community groups for between 8-10 years.
Orphaned and other extremely vulnerable young people are primarily supported through education, health care and emotional support.
These programmes are run to help these young people realise their God-given potential and lead a full and healthy life.
The sustainability of the programme is achieved through empowering the wider community with skills and truths to overcome the root causes of poverty for themselves.
This is partly achieved through functional adult literacy classes where adults learn to read and write, and gain skills for employment.
The root of these issues is often a lack of confidence, basic knowledge and a history of broken relationships within a community .
Staff work to reconcile people together with each other and to demonstrate the love of Jesus through their words and actions.
