Bolivia > Puerto Camacho > new focus
FH began operations in Bolivia in 1978 with a Child Sponsorship Program employing less than ten staff. During the 30 years since then, FH Bolivia (FH/B) has grown incredibly and now has a great wealth of experience in development. For the last 20 years, up until the end of 2008, we received significant funding from the USAID title II program. We have been serving more than 250 communities in some of the poorest and most food-insecure rural areas of Bolivia, benefitting roughly 5% of the Bolivian population, directly benefitting nearly 200,000 people and 400,000 indirectly.
Over the years FH/B has been continually learning and growing through experience. The following are some of our significant results from the last 30 years:
Approximately 1,000 Water & Sanitation projects were built in urban municipalities in Sucre and Potosi, which benefit more than 300,000 people (delete the cost of investment and changed to ‘which benefit’
300 rural communal water systems were built from 1993 – 2007, providing safe water to 45,000 people
1,054 family wells were built from 1989 – 1996, providing safe water to 5,270 people
Over
100 irrigation systems were built from 1995 – 2007, providing over 1,000
hectares of land with irrigation
From
