On 20th December 2009 the Puerto Camacho children filled two buses to go for an away day about an hour from Puerto Camacho. It was a beautiful day in very pretty green and mountainous surrounding – very different from the mud brick houses and earth roads in Puerto Camacho. Although Bolivia is a beautiful and diverse country, the children of Puerto Camacho don’t often have the opportunity to leave the area.
The children marvelled as they starred at the views out the bus windows for the whole journey. During the day they enjoyed playing different games and sports, an adventure play ground, snacks and a lunch (warmly welcomed by tummies which often don’t have enough to eat), songs, dramas and a fun gospel presentation where they all responded enthusiastically to the invitation to receive Jesus into their hearts as Lord and Saviour! At the end of the day, before heading back home, each child received a box of Christmas presents which were donated by Samaritan Purse’s ‘Operation Christmas Child’. As more of the boxes were for girls, Caroline’s church in La Paz collected boys’ toys to add to the gifts.
