| As she works in her small piece of land, Mary Daniel looks determined and says she is ready to face all the challenges she comes across. Mary’s husband died 4 years back. She was left taking care of her 4 children. Mary lives in a single room house which is not adequate for all of them. She does all the chores in the house which includes fetching water from very far everyday. Mary also goes for casual labour which includes harvesting, digging and sometimes collecting stones. Her husband’s death was so sudden that all the children were very much affected. 3 of her children finished primary school but she didn’t have money to take them to high school. They have just been left idle which makes them indulge in bad behavior. Mary is determined to work but she is sickling and this puts her into a fix because unless she works, they may go without food for some time. It is hard to afford drugs for her sickness. Mary believes that God through FHI will help her bring up her children and especially to shape the behavior of her children who have left school through prayers, guidance and counseling. |  |
