My name is Doris Mwari Mbijiwe. I am a mother of 5 children (3 girls and 2 boys). The girls are Victoria, Winnie and Liz and the boys are Bush and Luke. 4 of them go to school but the youngest is not yet going to school. My first child is in class 4, the second is in class 3, the third is in class one and the fourth is in nursery.
My husband works as a primary school teacher. He teaches all subjects but he enjoys teaching small children who are in lower classes. He is also talented in drawing and especially in cartoons. He also enjoys sports and in the past he used to be a distance runner.
Both of us have been working up-country in Sololo (Moyale District in Northern Kenya close to the Ethiopian border) for many years until recently when we moved to our home district, Meru. All of our children have been born in Moyale and they are finding it hard to cope with the cold weather in Meru.
My first daughter likes singing while my second daughter likes drawing and painting. My third born (boy) likes making and playing with toys while my fourth child likes discovering things by himself and likes playing a lot. The fifth is still too young but loves bananas.
I have been working with Food for the Hungry for several years and I enjoy working in the community as a social worker. This makes me meet new experiences every day and look for possible solutions to day to day challenges. I am also studying community health so that I may be equipped with knowledge and skill to meet health needs in the communities. Above all my family and I believe that Christ is Lord and Saviour.
